About Lisa Carlier

Experienced, Suzuki violin teacher with a passion for bringing out the best in young children. Now accepting new students in book I through IV. I am new to Idaho Falls, but not to playing violin or teaching kids to play Dr Suzuki’s method. I recently moved from Beaverton, Oregon where I had a bustling studio of little and big kids playing together. I welcome new Idaho Falls families to my home studio where we can continue to learn and play music for years to come! A history of performing in symphony orchestra concerts, combined with continuously honing my teaching skills through annual Suzuki training summer camps is the key to my success. Many of my current and former students have gone on to play in the Metropolitan Youth Symphony, Southwest Music School, and Marylhurst Youth Symphony. Will your child be the next young performer to graduate and go on to lifetime of music appreciation?

Lisa Carlier, the Teacher

Lisa teaches violin using Dr. Suzuki’s Mother Tongue Method to students ages five on up.  She is a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA) and annually attends summer institutes to hone her teaching skills.  Continued education is a must for any serious instructor, and Lisa is serious about teaching.  She has studied techniques under Kathy Lee, Donna Lim, and Kathleen Spring among others at workshops in Idaho and Oregon, as well as maintaining relationships with Suzuki instructors in Minnesota.

Love for the violin and the camaraderie of other Suzuki parents when her daughter was a Suzuki student inspired Lisa to become a violin teacher herself.  She uses a disciplined approach to learning and is able to articulate her instructions in kid-friendly terms that young children are able to understand.

Lisa Carlier, the Performer

Lisa began playing the violin in an elementary school orchestra and continued playing in school orchestras throughout high school and into college.  She has taken private lessons from numerous violinists, including Winona State University Music Professor, Dr. Thomas King.  Lisa spends time daily maintaining and developing her musical skills.

Lisa has years of experience playing full symphonic scores under the direction of renowned Conductor Larry Eckerling as a member of the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra.  Lisa has also previously performed with the Hillsboro Symphony Orchestra, the University of Portland Community Orchestra, Winona Symphony Orchestra, and St. Cloud State University’s Summer Stock Theatre.  Recently, she has played alongside some of her students with the Westside Community and Youth Orchestra.
